You can use a large construction garbage bag , put enough saw dust to cover the skin and just tumble the skin by motion side to side etc.
Every so often take the skin out and shake off the wet sawdust, i still do birds that way even though I ghave a tumber, but some birds have delicate feathers and I don't like to use it.

You could do as suggested above, I have. But a little less tiring is to take a plastic drum with a locking lid, sawdust a little mineral spirits and roll slowly downhill. I have a nice sawdust pile at the bottom of the hill

Why do you put mineral spirits in with your saw dust???

Also can you use borax instead of saw dust???

The mineral spirits help dissipate the water. No do not use borax. Sawdust or corn cob grit, but not borax. Remember to roll slowly, a standard bird tumbler rotates at about 12 - 14 rpm. You'll find that rolling downhill and back up gets tiresome but go slowly. Hope it helps

Van Dykes Taxidemry Supply. www.vandykestaxidermy.com I know they carry corn cob grit but it comes in various sizes, be sure to ask about what they recommend. You might check them out and find out, then call your local feed store and find it in smaller quantities. Hope it helps
