Default Deer Leather

If i were to decide to make deer leather instead of buckskin, is it a matter of rremoving flesh, then soak to remove hair, then tan, then dry. I've got a couple books on buckskin, but nothing on making leather. THanks for the help

I don't think that's correct Mountin Man. Everything I've read about buckskin is that its a different "leather" from Leather. I used to have a book that would tell you if you wanted to make leather do these steps to a hide, if you want to make buckskin, then you need to add these steps, but I dont have the book anylonger and don't remember the name of it.
