Default Deer Rug

I'm wanting to experiment with tanning a deer hide and making a deer rug. Ive seen bear rugs where they sew felt on the underside, and was wondering if you guys do anything like that for deer rugs or do you just leave it natural? Thanks.

Default RE: Deer Rug

Yes,but deer hair is hollow and breaks. The rugging of a deer skin,is for hanging on a wall.
I have done them with the head and antlers mounted? The felt liner could be put on,but it is just as well to trim the hide evenly and let it go at that.
