RE: whitewashing?
"Skull Bleaching " is what we call it , there are several ways by using dermestid beetles in a case that will eat the remainding flesh as the heavy flesh areas must be removed with a knife, the beetles would eat the remainding flesh including inside the cavities, then the skull is degresed and Hydrogen peroxide is apply and placed in the sun, I add hydrogen peroxide 3 times in 3 days.
The second is to boil the skull, i use a galvanized bucket and a gas stove i bring the water to a boil ,then I place the skull in it(This is very important0 do not put the skull in the bucket while the water is cold, place after the water is boiling otherwise you will overcook the skull and can desintegrate,degrease ,then apply the hydrogen peroxide 40% or stronger if you can find it and place in the sun, in top of a shed roof or somewhere where animals won't get to it.
3rd, is the stinkiest, place in a bucket with water and cover with a lid ,place it far from the house and tie down the bucket so critters won't mess with it, let the meat rut 1 week or two, use gloves and remove the now meatless skull, degraese, then apply the Hydrogen peroxide and place it in the sunlight.
Note: is good to sift the water with any of these methods using a mosquito mesh, that way you can find any loose teeth and reattach them.
The RED NECK Method; Using a 3500 psi pressure cleaner attach skull to a tree and wash it and remove the meat, I don't recomend this one ,LOL.
But some do.
