Default practice tanning

i was wondering what animal they use to tan? i want to maybe try to tan some of the game that i take this year and i was wondering what you use so u dont mess up a big project like a deer or something. im thinking about maybe trying using squrriel or something else maybe a coon. just wondering. thanks. pete.

Any animal hide can be tanned, but it might not be as easy as you think, specially without specific formulas and instructions so the best thing is for you to buy a video on fleshing and tanning and maybe a few books you can check out at the public libraries so you can have an idea how to even begin, you can also check out taxidermy suppliers for the video at www.taxidermy.net Good luck
