splitting the lips, nose etc

Can someone please try to explain how to split the lips, nose and anything else that needs to be split i bought a book on mounting small game and it didn't explain splitting the lips and nose that well. any help will be greatly appreciated

lIPS ARE SIMPLE IF YOU PAY ATTENTION WHEN SKINNING, you always sking around the lips cutting against the bone never agaibst the flesh, you will notice the lips are thick and have a definite membrane inside, you need a shap knife or scalpel and separate the inside membrane without cutting it off, that is how you split the lips ,the nose is about the same it is also double flesh and cartilage you must separate those nostrils and fleash all that area before you salt a hide for mounting or rug.

I would suggest beginning with a larger animal like a deer or goat or even medium size like a bobcat coyote etc, once you learn the anatomy in those area it will be easy even to do a mouse.

Its actually pretty simple, if you choose to allow it to be. Every fold needs to be unfolded. Unfold or split the inner eyelid from the skin. Same with the lips and the nostrils. Just follow the line thats there. Ears are simply turned inside out.
