Default Understanding the importance of every shot...

Called in this morning to the archery club where I competed at last Saturday to find out how my 306 stacked up...

I had carded like 8 ouit of 11 x's on the final stretch at that shoot, and came to target number 30. I had my yardage dialed in, and proceeded to just fluff the last shot. Not sure where it went wrong, but I pulled it to high and to the left -- JUST outside the 10 ring on a warthog.

Extremely angry, I immediately reached into my quiver and didn't change a thing for yardage -- just bore down on the 11-ring and proceeded to absolutely pinwheel it. I mean, I couldn't have walked up and stuck it into the middle of it any more perfectly. So with that one shot I went from finishing with a 309 to a 306. [:@]

The lady who runs the shop politely told me that third place was a 307, second place was a 308 and first was a 312.From a solid second to finishing off the podium in one split second.

Great.

Gotta hate that when it happens .... I know , when I'm shooting a 3D course I want my shots to be dead on center in thekill zone.
When it comes down to it , you only get that one shot in the real hunting world so you gotta make that shot count.
Thats why I get so fustrated when I shoot just outside the ten ring , ask germ he'll tell ya he's been beating me by 100 points the last few shoots.

It is a mental thing, especially with the last couple of targets when you are doing well.

I have been on track for a couple of 300-60X NFAA rounds and choked in the last 2 ends, ending up with a 300-57X instead of 60.
Keeping your mind focused for every arrow can be challenging and thinking about your score or how you are stacking up is the beginning of the end.

Been there, done that.........and have the T-shirt to prove it
