Default Backstop for targets

I was hoping someone could lead me in the right direction on this. my buddy and i have set up some targets in his backyard. a block target and a bag target. well we want to put a backstop behind the targets so the errant arrows aren't putting holes in his fence. any suggestions on what to use or where i can buy the right materials would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Some old carpet , or maybe an old used hot tub cover prop up behind the targets should work.

RDHunter, thanks for the tip. If we use carpet can we just lay it over the fence or should it be a few inches away from it?? thanks again.

Carpet stops arrows with very little penetration.

I would say use a thick heavy carpet or rugdrape over a strong wire or rope at least a foot away from a fench.
