Default Another Feeding Question

I will be getting a 3 1/2 Year old Lab next week, right now she appears to be overweight and does not get much exercise.I was wondering what the food consumption is for a Lab of this age,and how quickly to bring her back into exercising her,I don't want to over do it.She is about 90 lbs. but has a smaller body.
Thanks

It really depends on the dog and on the kind of food being fed. There isn't really a "cookbook answer" for your question. Some dogs will maintain their weight - on a cheap junk food - eating 12 cups a day -- while those same dogs might gain weight on an ultra premium food - eating only 3 cups a day.

Obesity = the intake of more calories than are expended.

We aquired a coonhound that was VERY obese. We bought Purina Fit & Trim and feed the recommended amount for her breed size. It didn't take long for her to get back into shape. We then started feeding her the same food as our other hounds, in the appropriate amount for her size.
