I was wondering if any of you know about a white streak or patch on labs? I have heard that it is an acceptable and often good trait, is this true? The parents of my pl just had another litter, and three of the males have a white streak and some white tips on their paws, let me know if you have any info on this.

RE: Coloration in Labs
I have to agree with Shawn ,my lab is pure black ( going white on the muzzel) and he is a great water fowel and upland dog.
BUY A PUPPY WITH A HUNTING backround . I know of several labs that are worthless in the feild regardless of the hundreds of hours that the owners have spent trying to train them. Ask about the parents ,are they hunting dogs , pets or show dogs. IMO only buy form hunting stock ,you never know when you buy from show or pet stock.

Wont make a bit of difference unless you are trying to sell them for top dollar. I had a lab with a white spot on his chest, doesnt make them any better or worse.
i raise and sell labs, yes the white patch on their chest is acceptable, you can check on american kennel club .com under lab guidelines.the patch doesn't really help or hurt them. i guess its just peoples opinon,
