Default Tail wagging

I have seven month old GSP female, when I brought it some friends advised me to cut her tail, but I refused as I felt awkward about the idea, but now when I have started hunting, I feel as my pup's tail is bleeding at the tip by continuously wagging against weeds and bushes when she becomes birdy. What can I do, is there any time for me to cut it now or any cure? I will appreciate help.
