Default won't retrieve

I just got a Lab/mix from a shelter where I volunteer. He is about 11 months old and will do what ever you ask of hime except retrieve. It took about one week to teach him to sit, stay and heel off the leash, with voice and whistle commands, in fact he does this better than my older lab. He loves to chase ducks and will swim after them forever if allowed, and he will chase a bumber, but he will pick it up and bring it back. I am looking for any suggestions to help teach him to retreive.

Thanks

Casey

Live wing clipped wing pigeons. Nobody ever invented a better device to make a dog "birdy".

Once your dog is good and birdy, Force Fetch.
