There are many great blood trailing dogs out there. The best are probably hounds. There are many different type so you should be able to find one in the size you like. Also the continental breeds do a good job at blood tracking and they also are great for upland and waterfowl.

I own a black lab/ rotweiller cross. Though he may not be the best blood dog out there he has never failed me. He can sniff out blood unbelievably well. I always lock him up inside the garage when i go out in the yard to shoot something. I can lock him up, walk to the end of our cement pad and shoot a squirrel 50 yards away and then let him out of the garage. Even though he doesn't know which way i walked or where this thing was i was shooting at he has that squirrel in his mouth in less than a minute. he amazes me....

I prefer the smaller Beagles.I have three now that blood trail.they also make great pets in the yard and inside.
well tempered, small, and will run you a deer or rabbitt when you want.

besides that they are really, really easy to train .
