Default What a beautiful day !

I posted a message a few weeks ago called "Dog training Frustration". I started back with the basics again with the check cord and tossing the dummy plain and working my way to the wings again. I went hunting this morning with another guy and his dogs. To keep the story short his dog flushed up this rooster and I shot it in which it landed right in front of my dog. I'm talking inches. If I would have shot it any later it would have landed on my dog. My dog didn't know what to think. He just looked up at me in surprise. Before I could give him the dead bird command, my buddie's dog came and got it. We then threw the pheasant in the filed in which I gave the command again to my dog and he went and go it. Overall for his first time it wasn't bad. I'm thankful that he's not gunshy and the rest can be taken care as the training progresses and the more exposure to the field and birds. But overall it was a nice to see progress was being made.
