RE: Crate Training
I agree with OhiopDuckHunter. Be patient and kepp the training sessions short but frequent. I train for about 10 minutes at a time but 2 or 3 times a day when the dog is young. when he is older you can train for longer periods of time but for now short and frequent is best. Also use treats when traing him to new commands but phase them out and use praise in the treats place as he gets better, that way he will do what you say for you and the praise he gets from you instead of just for food. Also don't use physical punishments when he doesn't please you. The only thing you will accomplish by physically punishing him is you will make him scared of you. Years ago this was the accepted method of trainig but most professional trainers will tell you that it is wrong and that it can produce a dog with serious behavioral problems. Keep you temper, be patient, be repetitous, and in know time at all you will have a friend you can count on for a long long time. GOOD LUCK AND LET US KNOW HOW THINGS ARE GOING.
