One of the brittany' s greatest attributes is that it can switch between house and field with no difficulty. If you' re looking at having him or her as a housepet as well as a field dog, you couldn' t ask for a better breed (but I may be a bit biased... I have several).

Of course you should keep your dog in the house as a pet. I breed a few litters of English Setters and all of my dogs are born and raised in the house.

Absolutely. Many even think this will create a better bond between you and your pet. I consider mine my pets.

IMHO, bonding is the most important " training" in a bird-dogs career and having them [our dogs] as house guest only strengthens this. I know I wouldn' t have it any other way!

Any breed will work, especially Labs.

dogs have been used as tools of hunting for thousands of years but it has been my experience that a dog should be your friend first. My dogs hunt well, but they share a bigger part in my life than just being a tool to hunt with. I take them hiking and camping with me, I take them for walks around town, and yes they live in my house. Make your dog a friend and you will share many rewarding experiences with him, including good days in the hunting field.
