Default Heat

my chacolate lab (female) is currently 10 months and will be 11months old november 18th she hasn' t had her first period yet, at what age do females go into heat? i think when she does go into heat, it will be midway through the upland season. her first upland hunt is saturday, and i was just woundering if she goes into heat in a month or two later, would it be wise to still hunt her? or should i leave her home until she is done.

thanks

Default RE: Heat

I' ve had bitches go into their first cycle anywhere from 7-16 months. I guess that is a pretty wide range and I would hate to put a finger on what I would consider " normal." They all turned out fine, though, so just let nature take its course and hope you get as many days in this season as possible with your young retriever. Enjoy!
