where I come from if you see a dog chasing a deer you shoot the dog first then the deer if you got time.

I train dogs to track deer instead of hunt them. I have had several friends lose a nice deer and use my dogs to retrieve it. I just don' t like hunting deer with dogs.

Believe it or not the best dogs I have for tracking deer are a walker and a blue tick. They will stay on the wounded/dead deers trail and pass up fresh tracks.

We run young dogs with older dogs, they catch on real fast. As for shooting dogs [:@], shoot the deer first then shoot the dog as it stands there looking up at you with his tail wagging.

we train young dogs with the older one.it is harded to train a dog to run deer than to bloodtrail one.bloodtrailing one you can stay with the dog and encourage it and watch to make sure he' s on the blood trail.running deer is different.

as for shooting the dog first.well there were some guys that did that aroung our part of the country, when they went back to there camp,it wasn' t there anymore.just a pile of ashes.they learned the hard way.in Fla. it' s aginst the law to shoot a dog.most people would rather the law get to them first, than the owner of the dog.

Some people take killing there dogs, almost like shooting one of there family.

if it is wild dogs and it is illeagle for dogs to molest game, then go for it.just make sure it' s illegal on the dogs part.[:-]

I WOULD KILL A MAN IF HE SHOT ONE OF MY DOGS. IT WOULD NOT MATTER TO ME IF THE DOG WAS ON HIS LAND. LET ME CATCH HIM ON MY LAND, HE WOULD BE THROWED IN A OLD WATER WELL SOME WHERE.

MIT SOUND MEAN BUT MY DOGS ARE MY FAMILY.
