Default Antler dog

I just recsently picked out a lab pup which I can pick up in 2 weeks. I am wanting to train it to find antlers. I plan on leaving a antler in its kennel all the time and teaching it to fetch it in stead of a stcik. Is there any other tips or tricks anyone could give me.

It's fun to have your dog shed hunt with you. We had a short antler, with little to no tines, that we gave our GSP as a pup to chew on. And it lasts longer than those expensive Nylabones do. Whenever we went scouting, she sometimes comes back with a new "chew toy"! We don't go specifically for sheds, but it's fun to see her having fun.
We also trained her to find our deer during archery season. Haven't lost a single one since we got her. She is fantastic!
