Default Why "English" Labs?

Why do folks bring "English" Labs into North American established Labrador bloodlines? A Labrador Bloodline "cleansing" tactic?
What do you think?<font color=green></font id=green>

Default RE: Why "English" Labs?

Some breeders bring in the English line to get a better temperment. I know I'll ruffle a few feather's but many breeders are getting away from the temperment that made the breed great.
A Lab should be a energenic hunter but when not afield it should revert into a couch potato not a constant spastic which is seen more and more.
In J.L.Free's Training Your Retriever ,first printed in the 40's I think it was , described the Lab as a very good dog for someone who lived in an apartment. How many of the dogs being breed today can that be said of ?
