Default Car sick Pup

my new GSP is doing well. I need to take her out and let her run in the fields but when ever she gets in a vehicle she starts water at the moth profusly and before long she' s blowin chow going and coming. It does' t seem to bother her to much but I don' t want to work her to hard if she' s not feeling well. I' m hoping she outgrows this as shes almost 4 mos. old otherwise she' s doing great she loves to retrieve and points our cats and other dogs with intensity.
any suggestions

she should grow out of it. at least thats what two of mine did.they were the same as yours, water and slobber from the mouth.after a few trips and 4 or 5 mo' s. they got over it.just make your trips real short to start with.maybe just around the block and back.

I think they are just nervous, because never been riding much.

Try taking her for VERY short drives to " nowhere" . Just a few minues here, a few minutes there and slowly build up the time she spends in the vehicle. This may help...Good luck....Jimmy

We try not to feed before car trips if a dog gets sick. It seems to be better for the dog (at least in our case) if the dog isn' t caged. Also the vet recommended Gravol if the car sickness is really bad.

I posted a thread about this a long time ago. A few years back, I had a Gordon Setter who got carsick all the time. I was telling one of my army buddies. He told me to go down and see the mechanics, and get a static strap (ground strap). All of our military vehicles had to have one. These are the flat black straps you see bolted to the frames of commercial vehicles (often), so they drag on the ground. I bet you can get them at auto supply stores. Anyway, he explained that his daughter used to get carsick - someone told him about this, and it " cured" her. Well, it may have been coincidence, he may have grown out of it, but I put that ground strap on my truck, and that dog never got sick again. I' d be curious to see if it works for anybody else....
