Our Springer just turned fifteen. He started losing his hearing around nine and I hunted him two years ago and thought I lost him. He could hear the shotgun, but like me, couldn't tell the direction. Since then his motor skills are failing. But until age ten, he was fine. Only hunted 1/2 a day, but so could I.

My 13 yr old beagle died this spring and he could still get it done until about the last 4 months of his life. I have a 10 yr old beagle that is about washed up, she really struggles in the field but loves to go. I have a 9 yr old female that can lead a pack with the best of field trial dogs. One thing about good dogs, they get old way to quick.
