Default Chessy help

I have a 5 year old chessy and he has dry flakey skin that just gets all over the house and has to be cleaned up 2-3 times a day.
He also has some hair loss. I have had him to 4 vets and they don't seem to be able to help him out. I have layed out over 1k so far trying to figure this thing out. Does anyone have any ideas of what i can do to help my buddy out. He is always scratching. I brush him every day and he is just covered with dry skin.

Default chessie

Because of the two layers of hair chessies can get several types of skin infections, which I am sure you know. I shave mine in the spring.

put a few splashes of vinegar in a 5 gallon bucket, a couple squirts of "mane and tail" horse shampoo/conditioner then fill the rest of the way with water then splash it on him.

I would also stop brushing him so much, it is probably irratateing his hide.

You say you shave the dog's hair in the spring? Wow that must be a sight. I will try your suggestions and see what happens. My wife is not happy with all the dried skin coming off him and onto his bed and the floor and i agree it is nasty.

Thanks Jim

Default clippers

if you do decide to shave him in the spring, start getting him use to the sound of the clippers now. A cheap set from walmart will work, but it will take a while. My dad raises cattle, so I borrow a pair of sheephead clippers from him. They are pretty loud, but it gets the job done pretty fast.
