There are many training vidoes out there and many methods to help one train a dog.

All are good but what the trainer needs to do is fit the method to the dog and be able to read the dog as the training progresses.

A finished dog is a HAPPY dog willing to do what ever you ask of it!

To be a good trainer the trainer have to be trained first, like parenting, lessons are needed for new parents.Start reading a few books on dog training on basic things. The more you read up on it the better understanding you have of dog psychology and start the training sessions with confidence that what you are doing is right. If after reading a lot of resources you still don't feel up to it you can join some obedience training sessions where you are guided to train your dog basic obedience training. They usually are not too expensive.
Anyway good luck.
