Default Leggings

Maybe this is a dumb question, but here it goes. My Chessie just got spayed this week and her dew claws were removed at the same time. The incision from the spay doesn't seem to bother her at all, but the bandages from the dew claw procedure drive her crazy. We have to leave the cone collar thing on or she is constantly clewing at the bandages. So I am wondering is there some kind of legging I could get to put on her so she doesn't have to have that cone on all the time.

Thanks
Dan

Dan, that's a tough call. I'm not sure if there's anything to keep her from getting to her sores. I have a Springer that has to wear a cone to keep him from getting at a sore in his back leg. We have tried everything but sooner or later he always seems to get to it, if left unattended.

We did but a soft, inflatable cone on line that seemed to help. It much less restrcited and keeps the dog's head and neck in a position so he can't reach his back leg. Plus it gives him more flexibility without crashing into everything in sight, incl our legs.

I can get additional info on this if you want. I would also check with her Vet to see if they can help.

Good Luck.

All I can think of is that topical spray used to try to help stop licking.

But as said - a call to the vet is your best chance.

Default coban

You could probably wrap the wounds with some coban, but she is probably just going to chew off what ever you put on it. I would probably just leave the cone on.

Thanks guys. You are probably right to just leave the cone on. I just feel bad watching her run into everything in sight. You can tell she is really down too. Not being able to play like she is used too, but it shoould only be another week.

Thanks
Dan
