Default Neutering

I needed a a dog for a pet and for use in helping to locate deer that have run off a ways after being shot. I chose a fiest/miniature husky cross and he seems to fit the bill.
I'm about to have him neutered and was wondering if this will have any negative effects as far as using him as a trail dog.

Most do not recomend it until at least 2 years old but none the less the choice is yours. In doing so it shouldn't bother him from hunting none at all. But will most likely see some huge wieght gain from it.. Good luck on what you decide to do with him..

i had toby done at 1 year old.i did not want to do it but he was very aggressive, domaniant male thing.vet thought it was great idea because of cancers dogs get but i really do not like doing it.

nothing really changed other than he is not as excited around ladies as he was before.if toby was not biting etc , i most likely would not have had it done.to this day my breeder is still mad i did it.

I just got my dog neutered the other day (last Monday). He's an 8 month old Golden Retriever mix, and the first thing that I noticed is that he no longer tries to stop and mark every object more than 6" tall on our walks. He might pee twice and he's done (thank God). He was young enough to not show any other typical male dog behavior other than butt sniffing other dogs. We adopted him from a rescue, and I've never had or wanted a male dog (always had female dogs), but he's a very good dog, but neutering was mandatory.

The vet also recommended it, as dogs that are neutered early tend to be healthier over their lives (much less chance of cancer, for one), and are less likely to take off and get hit by a car or injured/killed in a fight with another dog. As for weight gain, that's not as much the dog's fault as the owner's, I think. YOU have to take the dog out for exercise. Fortunately, Ollie will chase a frisbee or tennis ball through the gates of hell all day long, so I don't think that'll be a problem. If he get's fat I'd consider it my fault.
