Default Designated Area?

This may be a silly question, but here it goes anyway. I have a 6 year old Brittany male who uses 1 certain part of my yard to defecate. The problem is it is in the worst spot, the path my 2 kids use to travel from the house to the swing set. Is there a way to train a dog to use a different part of the yard? I kennel him at night and he runs the entire back yard all day while we are at work, so I' m not there when nature calls. I' m hoping for a way to mark the area he' s using now with a scent of some sort, so he will move to another spot. Am I dreaming? Any ideas considered. Thanks

Phil
