4 1/2 year old chocolate lab

I have a 4 1/2 year old chocolate lab male, I dont hunt fowl that much and have never taken him but he loves swimming in the creek down the road but for some reason he wont go near my inground pool, is there a reason for this and does anybody have any tips to help him along, thanks in advance for your help

my lab will swim to china but hates my bathtub...

i would take a throw toy and head to pond somewhere and throw it and retrive..

after a few weeks, take that same toy and throw it in pool,get in pool and call him in with it too..

maybe he is scared to get out of pool..

Sometimes the simpliest explaination could be the case. Has your dog ever been around standing water, ie. a pond or lake? Moving water he may be comfortable with but doesn't know about standing water.

my friend took his lab pup out in feb and tried to get him in freezing water..
to this day his lab will not go near WATER..

make sure water is warm in creek and you get in water with his favorite play toy.
he SHOULD come in to play with you..
if not, dont force him, try another time..
