I just received my copy of "Training the Pointing Labrador", by Julie Knutson in the mail yesterday.................WOW ! What a great training book.

There is even an endorsement on the back cover by Jackie Mertens (of "Sound Beginnings" fame). Jackie says : "Julie Knutson writes excellent, straight foreward advice for Retriever Believers. This easy to follow book is for the retriever enthusiast wanting a refresher on how to choose, raise and train a retriever. Although the title indicates the book is about Pointing Retrievers, much of the information is enlightening for any retriever owner. If you want a first class hunting dog, you can't go wrong following Julie's step by step process."

How different is this book than The Pointing Labrador by paul knutson that came out in 2001? better, worse or indifferent?

This new book is markedly different (better) than the older Knutson books. It's 480 pages.
Not only is is a great training book, but most importantly, it teaches you how to get inside the dog's head and think like a dog.
Paul and Julie Knutson collaborated on their first book endeavors (first was a small photocopied manual -- Then a spiral bound book --then the soft cover book you are talking about) and now this big hard cover book, written by Julie only.
As time goes by and the Knutson's continue to learn, they come out with new and improved versions. This newest one will end up being a classic for many many years to come.
