Default Wish I had a good blood trail dog today

I shot a doe this morning and the blood was really thick for a while. Then...NOTHING!!!! Searched for about 3 more hours looking for a drop to go on but nothing. What type of dogs are best for something like this?

Many use Wire Haired Dachshunds including myself. Here is a great site for some valuable information.
