Just get her out in the field whenever you shoot a deer. After the shot, go back and get the dog (even if you know where the deer is) and take him to where you shot the deer and get him to catch the scent. If there is blood make sure to get him on it. He should catch the scent and will probably follow it on his own. Be sure to praise him well as soon as he get to the deer.

This is something I had thought about doing with my Weim and the instructions that I was given to train her, now your bloodhound should catch on very quickly. Good luck.

Inhuntr:

There are a couple tracking resources you should check out. One is a tracking forum called the Tracking Dog Message Board. It is hosted by an individual inFinland. The site address is www.TheTroutBum.com There is an interactive forum and a number of great tracking articles in the library. Youshould also check out the newly revised book "Tracking Dogs for Finding Wounded Deer" by Jon Jeanneney. Jonwas one of the individuals whohelped form Deer Search inNew York. He raises Deutsch Teckels for(Wirehair Dachunds) for tracking.I believe at the time Deer Serach was created New York might have been the only state where it was legal to use a tracking dog to help in the recovery of wounded big game. You can readsome reviews of his book at
http://www.born-to-track.com/book/reviews.htm There is also a link to a page that has an order form if you want to get the book. Good luck.
