Default RE: 2 Training Questions

I'm not sure what replies you've gotten. But heres my ideas.

If the dog is coming well sometimes and not others.Go back to some basic yard commands and get a Solid COME command down.A simple checkcord is a great tool for this.Just let the dog drag the cord behind as he runs for a bit then call him in and when he doesnt obey, simply pick up the cord and reel him into you all the way to your side while saying COME all the way till hes there by you.Once you get total obedience in the yard its time to move to a open field with the checkcord and work on it till hes 100%.Once you've got his Come command down, perhaps get a duck dummy you can use for your retrieving sessions instead of the ball.Use the checkcord again and once you toss the dummy when he picks it up again reel him im so he gets the idea he HAS to bring it to you not play around with it.I'm not sure how many birds have been shot for the dog,but start going back to the basics and onces hes doing real well hopefully the more birds you shoot for him the better he will get.Your other option is have the dog trained for "Force Ftech".But if it was me I'd try what I just explained first to see if it helps before going to the FF training.Good Luck,Take care Jackson..
