Default amatuer trainer needs help

Just wondering if there are any retriever clubs in or around olympia washington. Just started hunting pheasants and ducks lasting year. I have a chocolate that I have been training for about a year. He's doing pretty dang good at retrieving considering how green i am... but the upland bird hunting I am confused. How do I get him to stop chargeing the peasants and start locking up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Puget Sound Retriever Club is North of you aways (Bremerton area).

Most Labs are Flushers (yours is, by what you describe). A very few are Pointing Labs.

If your dog is not out of Pointing Lab ancestry,it will never Lock Up. Pointing is genetic, and not something that you train.
