Default Best Breed of Bear hounds

My father and I are starting to look at getting a pack of bear hounds and we were wondering what breeds we should consider when choosing. The landscape we would be hunting would be thickswampto hardwood groves. We hunt in WI

I agree with everyone so far. You can't go wrong with redbones, walkers, plotts, cursetc. If I were building a pack, it would be mixed so each dog would bring something different. Look into the Cur breeds. If you areunfamiliar with them, check out (www.sqdog.com), they are not simplymutts contrary to what some people think. Good Luck!
