I got Innotek too through Lion Country Supply. When you don't know the in's and out's of how the collar works, you're bound to find problems with it.

When I don't use the beeper in the field on the Setter, I use it as a no-bark collar for the bloodhound. Those dogs are stubborn and you need to zap them at the highest level at least twice to get them to shutup. Those no-bark collars you find in the store are useless unless you put it on a wimpy dog. With the bloodhound being crated most of the time and banging that collar around when moving in the crate, the beeper on the collar didn't work after a couple of months of using it in that manner. The beeper would be silent, then it would crackle trying to beep then silent, the zapper worked though. Lion Country Supply had a new one sent right out in no time.

TIPS: Make sure you know everything in the owner's manual. Make sure you get one with a good warranty. Most importantly, make sure it works the night before you go hunting.

I didn't know that when I replace the batteries in the collar that the collar needs to be completely reprogrammed. One morning going into the woods I tried turning on the beeper, got nothing. Changed the batteries again, nothing. I wasn't going to let this ruin the hunt so I continued to hunt and had to pay more attention as to where the dog went because I wouldn't get a signal if she was on point. The dog ended up taking off on my running all over kingdom come and that hunt was squashed. The beeper on the collar for the dog is like the drums for the militias in the Revolutionary War battles.

I have a Tri tronics. It is the add on model that you can not control from your collar remote. I really like it. It has several sound options. It is easliy turned on and off. It runs on a duracell 9 volt. The speaker is pointed away from the dogs ears. Only problem I have had is in snow sometime the snow falls into the speaker and the sound is muffled. I had problem with the back door of the collar flexing but emailed tritronics and they sent me a new one (backdoor). It will also go on any nylon plastic collar. I use mine almost all the time in the tall switchgrass.

The Innotek I have has the "Hawk Scream" tone that is good when the birds are running.

The collar has a loud and quiet tone for every tone.

I bought a Tri-Tronics and used it in SD pheasant hunting. It helped me keep tabs on my young/hyper lab pup in the sea of corn and sunflower seeds.
