questions

i have two questions. one is if you dont plan on breeding or competing your hunting dog, is itokay to have him fixed. is there any problems if you do like lose hunting drive or anything. i wouldn't think so but i want to ask.[/align]another question is if your not breeding or competing what other reasons are there for registering your pup. The dog pictured in my avitar was neutered when he turned 1yr. old....talk about a good birthday present. haha But we did that b/c he was kind of mean. It did not affect his hunting at all. He always was a hard charger and would never walk behind you. With female dogs, I"m not sure if it would change their drive or not....never had a female.

I have my female gsp fixed. In fact even if you do breed your dog as they get older it is suggested by some to get the dog fixed in order to prevent agenst reproductive organ cancers. I think the suggested age is 5 or 6 years. I haven't notice any Loss of hunting drive in my dog. I don't think it would affect it much if at all. As for getting the dog papered If you are not going to compete with the dog or breed it is isn't needed other then personal preferance.
