It is the oldest turkey call known to man.....

It is a suction call - ya kiss it or suck on it similar to a soda straw.

You can get yelps, clucks, purrs, but ya gotta work at it

These are great turkey calls. We used to make them when I was a kid when my dad went out. As I grew up, I switched over to diaphragms, mostly, and the occasional box call if I'm mostly calling while someone else is shooting.

Great work though. I'm impressed.

Default Wing bone call

I have one of JW!s' WB calls and it works great. He was also kind enough to make one for each of my Grand children and a couple of friends. I send all my bones and spurs to JW! so he can make calls for others.

He's also a good friend and a great turkey hunter (in his mind).

Default Wing bone call question

Is there a way to dye the call after you finish it to "antique" it. That is, is there a way that you can make it look old?

If you use general polyurethane the call over time will yellow.

You could use a weak solution of India ink to darken it and give it some patina.

I've seen people use oak wood stain on their antlers to "bring back the color," so I don't know why you could not use a wood stain on the calls.

Thanks for the post JW! If I ever get me a turkey I will try making some calls. Would be great gifts for sure.
