i wouldnt recommend this web site if your hunting the northwest or panhandle of texas. most of the suggestions or arguments on this website are hogs shot at close distances with a small caliber.
what part of texas will you be hunting?
i would suggest a .30 caliber, .308, 30-06 or .300. most any caliber will do unless taking long shots.
Ahh, the big city of Vera. There's not much at Vera, and not much more at Benjamin. LOL That neck of the woods should have some good hog hunting. Good luck and good hunting.

Not familiar with that area. I hunt hog in Jack County, and there are just a few rules.
1.) Never go alone
2.) Always pack a pistol with ya
3.) Always have one guy with a 12 gauge, 3 1/2 in 00 Buck.
The hogs in Jack have killed a couple of people, and there population is on the rise, despite our best attempts to kill em all.
