Default Thoughts on Sunday hunting bans

I brought it up on another thread but dont want it to overtake the topic there. So what do you all think?

The biggest gripe I have is that it's OK to go fishing on Sunday but hunting is a NO NO? I don't get it.

well some say its a religious thing but i dont know. if it is then it shouldnt be. i think they should lift the ban and allow hunting on sundays. they would get more people into the sport cause the average person works all week so saturdays is the only time they can hunt. it would generate mor revenue and since our dgif likes to spend our money on african safaris they should love that. but seriouslly hunting shouldnt be dictated by religion and thats the only factor i can see in why they dont allow it. i mean they allow it on christmas and thanksgiving which are 2 of the most religious days so why not on sundays?

Aaaaaaaaagh!!!! You brought up the dreaded "SUNDAY HUNTING" topic! [&:][][:'(][:@]

It stems from the old, ancient, archaic, "Blue Laws" that probably date back to 1863... This has been challenged and debated for years and always got swept under the rug. I for one, am totally FOR allowing hunting on a Sunday. Heck, perhaps even just Sunday AM (just like the hours for spring turkey season). If people don't want to hunt on Sunday, fine... But at least give people the choice!

Hey I just had a thought maybe the ACLU will sue the commonwealth on our behalf for equal protection under the law. The anglers, which is also most of us hunters, can enjoy their sport on sunday but hunters are discriminated against. Sounds rife with prejudice.

EDIT: I just surfed the internet on "Sunday Hunting" and found this link showing what states DO NOT allow hunting on Sunday.

Hey, I know a few guys here in VA that totally CAN NOT hunt! They work 6 days a week with Sunday off. The only time they might be able to go out would be take a vacation day during the week! Now THAT right there sucks big-time!!! [:@][:'(] ...and you wonder why there is a decline in hunters and why some people say it is slowly, ever so slowly, starting to die out. [:-]

i was talking to somenody this evening and this issue came up and he summed it up perfectly. he said "id rather be in the woods thinking of god instead of being in church thinking of hunting" now thats good. just thought id share.
