I am new to hunting and I am 36 yrs. old in e.tn. south of knoxville. I would like some or any tips that would help in hunting whitetail on public land. I am using a 8mm mauser. Thank you all and god bless.

1st timmer it sounds like you live close to the Telico area. My grandparents live in Athens so I grew up hunting those mountains. Its deffinately some of the better hunting in TN IMHO but its been a long time since I hunted there. Your best bet would probably be checking with some of the local gun/hunting shops and asking around for where some good hunting spots are.
