Default How's the elk heard in KY???

i'm a bowhunter from WV and i've heard rumors that some Elk have migrated into southern wv from KY. i have no clue if this is true or not, just wanted to know how the elk heard in ky is doing, so i can have a good idea if it is possible for elk to be in WV

The elk are heard if you are close enough to hear them.

What have they been heard saying?

I have family in Pike Co. My uncle tells me that you can see them in large herds down near the airport. They've even seen them up in the mountains where they have reclaimed the mountain tops from the strip mining.

e it as growing as hoped. What may be the new state record was killed by a lady during the season.

I didn't get drawed for a permit again!

Have heard that some of the heard have moved into WV and VA. I live on the other side of the state so don't get ot see much just get word from friends that live there.

They were released in southeastern Ky, but have migrated north and have been seen in the county that I live in(Madison) and I know of one elk that hit by a car near Lexington. The DNR is very happy with the results of the restoration. The herd is supposed to be around 4,000 now. And yes, they've been seen in Va and WV. There were 40 permits in the lottery this year. If they continue to do well, the DNR says in another ten years, the amount of tags could reach 1,000 or more. How cool is that!!!!

I live in knott county, which is the southeast part of the state. the heard seems to be growing pretty good in numbers. the other day i counted over 70 elk before i got tired of counting. you can litterally see them whenever you want. i was driving through a place the other night where they are seen very often and there was a 7x7 standing right beside the road. i past it and then put it in reverse and backed up to it. i probably watched it for 3 min. before it took off. we were about 15 feet away from each other.
