Has anyone ever hunted the Back Bay NWR? I have been selected in the lottery to hunt deer and hogs and wanted to know if anyone has had any luck their?

Default RE: Back Bay NWR

A bunch of us got together and were pulled for tags several years ago. It turned out, when we got there, we had all been pulled for the 'island'. NOT a good thing. Out of 6 of us, I was the only one who got a deer. It was a little (and I mean little) buck. Worse part of the hunt were the snakes. I counted personally, over 60 different snakes in just over 4 hours. The place was polluted with snakes! Everyone was a cottonmouth or a copperhead. Biggest snakes I've ever seen and you're NOT allowed to kill them. Dang cottonmouths will chase you too. We couldn't deal with it and left after only 4 hours of hunting and have never went back. I don't know what the park would be like but I know there's a bunch there too. Good luck and be sure to wear snake leggings!
