Not in Wilkes Co. At least not down by us on the NE side of the WMA. We'll be back in the woods Thursday afternoon (the WMA has an early season gun hunt Thursday-Saturday) and I'm hoping that they chase some deer my way...

On opening weekend we spooked a couple deer Friday afternoon on the way in to my favorite stand to remove the game camera. My buddy watched a yearling buck feed for a half hour one afternoon and my brother saw a buck prior to shooting lite and a doe Sunday afternoon (too far for a shot). That's the extent of three days of hunting hard on opening weekend for three guys.

Sounds like central GA folks have had some luck (if you use talk on Woody's Taxidermy forums). Some great early season reports over there.

I hunt Houston and Monroe County. Seen some deer, but nothing to talk about. All my deer seem to be moving about 8 to 10 in the morning for some reason, even opening weekend with the good moon. Yall noticing the same thing?

Shot a nice doe 15 minutes into opening morning in Greene county. Shot another one four days later. And another one in Richmond county last week. My buddy saw a 150 class buck in Richmond county checking a scrape, never got a shot at him though. The rut is real close in Richmond County. It is always between the last week of October and the first week of November.
