Default Moving to GA

I am in the process of moving from Texas to Statesboro, GA (Bulloch County).

What is the best way to go about finding a nearby place to hunt? Any and all information is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You might want to check into hunting on Fort Stewart, its a Army base that is about 30-35 minutes from Statesboro. I used to hunt it, when I was station there in "89-"91, and they let civilians hunt it to at that time. Okay just checked the 2004 hunting regs and you still can hunt Ft. Stewart. Here's the contact # (912) 767-5032.

You can also try Savannah NWR here's there #(912) 652-4415. Permits are issued by mail, and there is a 12.50 fee.

There are several WMA's in that area here's a few to get you started....

Big Dukes Pond Natural Area
Big Hammock
Ohoopee Dunes Natural Area
Griffin Ridge
Richmond Hill
Bullard Creek
Moody Forest Natural Area
Information on all of these are in the Georgia Hunting Regulation book.
Hope this helps.

There is great hunting in Emanuel, Jenkins, Screvens, Burke counties. Really the entire area around you. There are lots of clubs down there. I would check the local gun stores etc and ask about available clubs. Chances are you will find a great place to hunt and pretty good people.
