Don't know much about Gainesville specificly but its like most other big towns/cities, high crime in the metropolitan area and less as you move out into the sticks. Work depends on your field and qualifications.

I only live 30 min. from G-ville ; it does have a high crime rate. the out laying areas aren't to bad.as for the work , what do you do or plan to do?do you already have a job offer?

i have moved out of florida twice, i came back twice......the hunting is awesome, the deer are smaller, but the experience is just the same.....the osceola's are gainsville and south....that is good enough reason for me, lol.......like was said....stay out of the big cities....but if you look alot , you'll find the perfect place....
