Tracker, there are a lot of pessimists in this forum who will say it can't be done or whine about this or that. See the thread I started and how it turned out. I recommend going to your local co-op or hunting club and asking what the locals are having success with.

I have a couple of roads like you have.I planted field rye on them last year and the deer were there every morning and evening. my wife took one buck and one doe from there roadways.this year I am adding oats,(coker 225) to them along with my other plots.

I hunt in alabama, but it sounds like your climate is much like ours. I like wheat and oats, both grow relatively easily, deer like 'em, and best of all...around here you can get a 50 lb bag of either one for about 5 bucks.
