Default Florida Hogs and hunting clubs

New to the site and new to FL, down from MI and living in the Tampa Bay area. I've heard guys talking about farmers and such that'll let you n their land for cheap (compared to guided ranches) to take a hog but I've yet to have a number given to me, it's always the friend of a guy that knows someone that says you can do it...

Anybody in the Tampa Bay area or within 3 hours that knows of such a farmer or has land that your willing to let a repspectable hunter harvest a hog from for a reasonable price? I understand that in FL hogs are considered livestock in on private property.

Also, does anyone know of a good hunting club I might join in the area?

Thanks.

Check your local sporting goods stores, especially bow shops and alsofeed stores have alot of info normally. I'm not from that area so can't give you specifics but there are also alot of wmas that have plenty of hogs.

i'd find a good wma near by.....the hogs are everywhere, you just have to pay the license and wma stamp...the feed stores and bow shops was a good idea.....even a local country store or taxidermist might be an avenue to pursue.......good lucka nd welcome to Florida

I have found that hogs can only be hunted during deer seasons on WMA's. Is this true with all of them? Deer seasons are usually only a week long on WMA's. Does anyone know of longer hog seasons on certain WMA's?

Thanks for any help.

what you are probably looking at is the quota hunt periods or the special opp hunt periods.... these are "premiums" and you pay more for those opprotunities......

If you find private land, then hogs are not considered wild game and is basically open season, but on WMAs they are considered wild game and game management laws prevail

Big man, I turkey hunted in your area last season at two WMA'S: "Green Swamp" and "Bull Creek". There is another WMA, called upper Hilsbourgh located by Zephier Hills. All have hogs and it's free.

Hope this helps.
