Default Potential Changes in Alabama Deer Laws

After a few public meetings there was support with the Alabama Advisory Board to push for changes regarding the deer hunting and feeding laws. The proposed laws and the bill that passed committee in the House a week or so ago were entirely different. The way the new bill is proposed you can have a feeder, it will take a $25 per year permit to keep it legal, you must have it at least 100 yards from the nearest land boundary line and must be at least 500 feet from the nearest public road, it must be within 200 yards of an acre maintained and planted food plot, must be at least 100 yards from the hunter and must not be in view of the hunter, all bucks must have at least 3 one inch points on at least one side. There are also a few other changes noted, but at this time the bill is not very well written or is it very good. Hopefully the Conservation Department will amend the bill for the good or it will fail and be resubmitted in a year or so.

Default RE: Potential Changes in Alabama Deer Laws

I didn't read the whole article in the Tuscaloosa News today, but from what I read: It sounded like it was being shot down by the public. A town meeting showed over whelming support against the bill. I myself also hope it gets shot down. Its getting where nowadays an average hunter can't afford to be competitive in hunting. It takes a lot of money for the land, seed, yr. round supplements, and feed to keep deer on your property. I know that there's a lot of people for it too, but thats why we have an right to our opinion.
