florida hog hunting around Tampa

I was wondering if someone could help me out. Last year when I was down in the Tampa area I was talking to a local who told me that he hog hunted in the Tampa area on a WMA and you could hunt there year round and take a hog a day. Now granted, we were drinking, but I'm sure that is what he told me. So I'm going back down and would really like to give hog hunting a try, but when I look up the Florida game & fish dept web site I'm a bit confused.

The way that I'm reading the regs is that there are hunting seasons on hogs and they won't be open in March, or is that just on specific WMA's. Your regs have me scratching my head a little bit.

in Fla. wild hogs are not considered game on private land.on the WMA they are game animals and have a season.if you know someone that has hogs on there land you may get permission,a lot want the hogs gone.
I don't know any one in the Tampa area.

I think there are a few WMAs where you can hunt hogs year round but your best bet is to call Fl. game commision in that area.
