Usually about the first frost the deer will attack them. You have found a honey-hole!!!

set up a stand and wait, you will see a lot of deer.they love them.that is the reason theres none on the ground, the deer get them the day they fall.

I hunt every tree I can find with fruit on them...[:-][:-]

I have 2 Persimmon trees in my yard. the deer didn't wait for frost, ate every one that fell. They even rear up and knock some of the limbs that they can reach. I had limbs all over the ground. All the Persimmons were gone by the time gun season started. Set up your stand, they will come. (Just hope they don't go nocturnal. Never saw a single deer, but their droppings were everywhere

Russ).

the coyotes will wear out the ground to get them.
Me too! There is a nice persimmon tree next to my Dads house. The deer get there before I do most years. But, some times I get there on the same weekend as the first real frost / freeze. (That makes them sweet and fall). Shake the tree with a stick and pick them up and eat them. The small ones are sweeter, but have more pits.

The deer can come looking for the ones I don't pick up. Then I might just get to eat them second hand!
